On December 8, Yin Gangqiang, Party Secretary of the International Bamboo and Rattan Organization (INBAR); Wang Ge, Academician of the International Academy of Wood Science and Senior Researcher at INBAR; Liu Xianmiao, Deputy Director of the Industry Division; Dr. Chen Fuming, Researcher of the Materials Institute; and Wen Yongyou, Vice Mayor of Yong’an City, visited Fujian Heqichang Bamboo Industry Co., Ltd. for a field study and cooperation exchange.

This visit marks another high-level dialogue built upon years of partnership, injecting new momentum into the high-quality development of Fujian’s bamboo industry and the upgrading of Yong’an’s bamboo-based materials sector.

Accompanied by the company’s management team, the delegation toured the Heqichang Cultural Exhibition Hall, the bamboo-based container flooring production line, and the intelligent manufacturing workshops. Experts highly recognized Heqichang’s achievements in technological breakthroughs, equipment upgrades, and process optimization. They noted that the company has developed a mature system and leading industrial capabilities in bamboo-based materials, serving as an important industry benchmark.

During the discussion, Academician Wang Ge reviewed the long-term cooperation with Heqichang since 2010. He emphasized that over the past decade, both parties have maintained smooth and productive collaboration, jointly achieving solid results in key areas such as container flooring technology, process stability, and production line improvements. He expressed hopes for continued close cooperation to promote more breakthroughs in bamboo-based materials.

Secretary Yin Gangqiang stated that Heqichang has taken the lead in bamboo-based material R&D, industrialization, and standards development, becoming a flagbearer for China’s bamboo industry. He hopes both sides will deepen cooperation in key technology research, standard development, and talent cultivation, jointly advancing the practice of “replacing plastic with bamboo” nationwide.

During the exchange, both parties reached a consensus on deepening cooperation in bamboo-based material research and application, including joint scientific projects, collaborative technology breakthroughs, establishing innovation centers, and jointly applying for patents and industry standards. This collaboration will further strengthen synergy between research institutions and leading enterprises, setting a new model for the industry.

President Yu Yan of Heqichang stated that the company remains committed to innovation-driven development and the advancement of scalable, standardized, and high-end bamboo-based materials. Container flooring is only one entry point—future applications will expand into construction materials, transportation panels, outdoor products, and home furnishing, unlocking greater value for bamboo in multiple sectors.

She emphasized: “Today’s cooperation, witnessed by Vice Mayor Wen, marks a deeper integration of industry and research. Bamboo has the potential to play a greater role in the global green and low-carbon transition and become a key force for sustainable development.”

This visit not only strengthened the foundation of long-term cooperation but also opened a new chapter for future high-level development. Heqichang will continue to embrace innovation with openness, working with INBAR and more research institutions to explore advancements in technology, standards, industrial models, and applications. Together, they aim to bring bamboo-based materials to broader markets and contribute more “bamboo power” to green development.
